Mixiv is dead…

On July 1st Mixiv, the membership platform powering this site, shut down their service.

Mixiv was a very early white label partner of Josh Anderson's super awesome Nanacast service. We'll save the Nanacast discussion for a post where I can give it the full attention it deserves. It's a game changer for many marketers, or at least could be.

Apparently, the team at Mixiv are throwing all of their considerable muscle and marketing efforts towards something new. Something I think is extraordinarily cool and very much ahead of its time... namely, MonsterFollowUp.

Mixiv was the chosen technology partner on some previous projects and I did some consulting/copy for them here and there. Always enjoyed working with them and Nick in particular really went to bat for me in the clutch, more than once. They gifted me a premium account to use for the last year or two. Loved the platform, loved the service and support from Nick and the gang.

But all good things come to an end eventually, and with the passing of Mixiv into the tech graveyard, it presents me with a unique window of opportunity.

Believe me, it would be easy... REAL easy... to just make the jump over to Nanacast. And I still might.

But before I commit to another remote hosted platform again, I've decided to go ahead and rebuild this membership using my own resources, on my own chosen membership & publishing platform. Running on my hardware. On my servers. My databases. Me. Mine.

Why? In a word, control.

For this site, I've chosen WordPress as the CMS (naturally) and I'm running ProfitsTheme to use its built-in membership and ecommerce framework. Makes things simple enough to be easy, and powerful enough to create a big old honking membership site full of multiple levels, products, offers and a nifty blog.

Will Profits Theme make the cut? Yes, I'm pretty sure that it will. But there's some things that are pissing me off.

The logo from hell keeps coming back and the settings that make it go away toggle between on and off on the membership side and the blog side.

If the logo is gone from the membership site, it's on the blog header. If it's off the blog header, it's back on the membership side. UGH!

My solution? I created a 10x10 pixel transparent PNG and named it logo.png. Then, I simply overwrote the annoying bastard inside the Profits Theme images folder. Fine, display it all ya want now!

Anyway...

It's gonna take a little time and a lot of "doing" to recreate all of the functionality of the old free membership...

Here's what's coming up - and these will just start appearing for you automagically as they come online:

Private RSS Feeds (Personal Podcasts) - you'll be able to subscribe to the content inside iTunes or your favorite RSS reader app.

Expanded Product Catalog - I'm going to add a bunch of cool stuff here that I never put into Mixiv previously.

Live Event Schedule & Registration Hub - All my live training events, webinars, interviews and personal appearances will be listed here, along with any replays that I'm allowed to share with you.

Plus more that I don't want to commit to in writing yet...

Ok, this is already too long. More later.

Thanks for coming and make sure you register for your FREE INSTANT ACCESS Membership.

Best,
